How did Headnoise get started? We all started messing around in our friend Orlando' s garage just making nooise with Orlando fm havalina on drums back then and another guitarist (Tom) . We felt the Lord leading us to do more . So we prayed, sought some counsel and moved forward to start a ministry band. and we have been blessed.
What is your goal as a band? Our goal is save as many souls as possible in the time God has given us with what He has given. utilizing the tool of music and the spokenword of God. We would of course love to tour full time and put out lots of music for that purpose . Also edify, uplift and encourage the body of Christ as best as we can.
How would you describe your music? We play old school punk rock just the way we learned it at the old school, school house
Where are you from? We are all from Orange County right now.
How is the music scene in your area going? It is pretty good. there are always alot of shows in Southern California . Every band must come thru here on the way somewhere so by the grace of God we always seem to be busy. Praise God. We have hooked up with about thirty or so punks/ goths/ hardcore folks and the like and we all go to shows or have one. also we have Bible studies and go street witnessing.
Who influences you? We aren't really influenced by anyone in particular but we all like Keith Green and Glen Kaiser. but to answer your question, Sid grew up listening to orange county punk and Edie and i grew up listening to L.A. and british punk and goth. We draw from that music and try to make something original. but its hard as it has all been done before
What type of a ministry do you have? We are all active in our fellowship playing music in worship leading Bible studies or just being helpful at our church. But our call to ministry is really to the dying youth, and forgotten tribes (the church calls them subcultures) we go to them on the street or in the clubs . We use our zine "slogans for the rebellion" tracts ,the spoken word and just try to let them know how much Jesus loves them , there is also a great need in the body for exactly the same thing sometimes we lose our way and we need someone to remind us why we were saved in the first place and who saved us. The band is a ministry more than it is any type of tool to entertain or look cool.
Who would you most want to tour with? We would like to tour with alot of bands but i would say Officer Negative since we toured with them last year and also Modus Operandi a local thrash metal band, also Crashdog.
Any cool/wierd/funny stories? Yes we have lots of them. I almost got beat up in Las Vegas by some God hating drunk satanist's. A club we were supposed to play in New Mexico last year got broken into and burnt down a few days before we arrived. We played at the Roxy and gave an alter call and 4 people got saved and the promoter doged us out from the stage and never asked us back. Once at the H.G. fest in Northern Calif I was walking to the edge of the stage to get something from someone in the crowd and i fell between a line of speakers I didn't see and almost broke my leg and when I looked up Greg from Crux was laughing along with the rest of the crowd he was holding a video camera pointing at me saying "it's cool broI got it all". but I didn't think that was funny at all. I broke a stage once trying to do back flip. (it's all about humility) our guitarist tryed to crowd surf and fell ontop of the rest of the band. do I go on?
What's the best part of the show? Defiently preaching the gospel and seeing people give thier hearts to Jesus. No one can take that away and it will last forever. God is sooo good.
Do you ever play cover songs? Not really, once we played "God Rules" by Undercover and we've talked about it. But there is just too much music to be created and too many ideas in our heads.
What are the best and worst parts of being in a band? Best is thing is growing in the grace of God , there are alot of trying times and we are contantly being tested and forced to love and ya know love covers a mulititude of sins. Worst is the push by so many people and industry types to sell out and be just another band with no purpose but to act like cool rockstars. yuk!!! whatever happened to being real for God?
Is there anything people should know about the band? Yes ... we love Jesus we are not ashamed of Him and we are doing this in His name for you. We are all in this together and the only way we're gonna make it thru this is in unity with one another loving and caring for each other. i believe that is the way God wants it. But we must repent and seek him with all our hearts like the Word says. Then can we see great things happen.
